Special Issue

Extended deadline: November 15, 2017

Biometrical Journal will publish a special issue at the occasion of the 38th Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics (ISCB) in Vigo (Spain) under the conference theme

This special issue aims to publish on a fast track high quality papers on cutting edge biostatistical methods for clinical research presented (orally or as posters) at ISCB 2017. Although papers on any topic covered by the conference may be submitted to the special issue, papers in any of the following areas are particularly encouraged:

  • Survival Analysis and multi-state models
  • Statistical advances for clinical trials
  • Bayesian methods in clinical research
  • High dimensional biostatistical data
  • Statistical methods for precision medicine, including biomarker discovery

The review process will follow the general reviewing principles of Biometrical Journal and be handled by the Special Issue guest editors: Prof. Guadalupe Gómez (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTECH, Chair of the Scientific Programme Committee and coordinating SI-editor), Prof. Jacobo de Uña-Álvarez (Universidade de Vigo, Chair of the Local Organising Committee and Member of the Scientific Programme Committee) and Prof. Frank Bretz (Novartis Pharma AG, Member of the Scientific Programme Committee).

All papers have to be submitted via the online submission system of Biometrical Journal: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/biomj/

To submit to the special issue login at MC (manuscript central), indicate at Step 1 that the submission is to a special issue and at Step 4 of the submission process enter "ISCB 2017" in the Special Issue Information field.

Submitted manuscripts should comply with the instructions for authors of Biometrical Journal, at http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1002/(ISSN)1521-4036/homepage/ForAuthors.html.

The deadline for fully developed papers is: 30 October 2017. This deadline will be sharp. We expect that all papers have been first reviewed by early 2018 and to have the Special Issue complete by mid-2018.

Please note that the Biometrical Journal is devoted to Reproducible Research, details can be found on its website. Authors who intend to submit programs (R language and SAS preferred), original data sets and details of simulations are asked to indicate this already at submission. They should as well upload “ready to run” material so that it can be examined during the review process for this Special Issue.
