Call for abstracts – Submission guidelines

 

Abstract submission opens on December 20th, 2016. The deadline for abstract submission is February 20th, 2017.

 

Contributed presentations in any area of biostatistics, epidemiology and related topics are welcome. Two formats are possible: oral presentations and poster presentations.

 

The main themes of ISCB38 are the topics of the invited sessions, listed below as Key Scientific Topics. The Scientific Programme Committee has selected other topics of interest for the meeting, listed as Further Scientific Topics. Please note that other general topics like Survival Analysis, Causal Inference, etc, are always welcome at the ISCB.

Abstract submission guidelines

 

Abstracts should be submitted via the online abstract submission system. They should be written in English.

During submission, you will have to complete the following mandatory fields:

 

Type of presentation

  • Select the type of presentation: Invited or Contributed. In the latter case, please also indicate your preference (if any): oral presentation or poster presentation. 

 

Title

  • Maximum length of the title is 140 characters, including spaces. The title should be written in sentence case. 

 

Authors

  • Provide the names, institutional affiliations and countries of ALL contributing authors. 
  • Identify the presenting author under the heading “Presenting author”. Any one of the contributing authors may be identified as the presenting author. 
  • The person submitting the abstract will be considered the corresponding author. All communication regarding an abstract will be sent to her/him, irrespective the designation of the presenting author.

 

Abstract topic

Under the heading “Scientific Topics”, select the best matching topic for your abstract. If none of the pre-specified topics applies to your abstract, select “Other (other topics not included within the previous ones)”.

 

Abstract

  • Maximum length of the abstract is 1750 characters, including spaces. 
  • The abstract should be written in plain text.
  • Tables, figures and equations are not allowed. 
  • A maximum of two literature references may be added at the end of the abstract text. References are included in the total character count. 

 

Once you have completed all fields, you can submit your abstract. Please note that after submission, you cannot change the content of your abstract. It is thus advisable to submit your abstract only when its content is final and has been  approved by all authors.

 

After submission, an abstract number will be assigned. This number should be given as a reference when making any inquiries pertaining to the abstract. All correspondence regarding the abstract will be sent to the corresponding author.

 

The deadline for abstract submission is February 20th, 2017. Abstracts submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

 

Review procedure

 

All abstracts will be reviewed by two members of the Scientific Programme Committee. On April 1st, 2017 authors will be notified of abstract acceptance and if they have been assigned to oral or poster presentation. Note that the author’s preference could be changed by the Scientific Programme Committee for organizational and logistical reasons.  

 

The Scientific Programme Committee may refuse abstracts of insufficient quality or abstracts that are outside the scope of the conference.

 

After abstract acceptance

 

Please note that presenters of abstracts are not automatically registered for the conference and should register before the early bird deadline April 30th, 2017 to be included in the programme.
